Compassionate Bereavement Care®
Carol has been trained and certified as a Compassionate Bereavement Care® Provider through the MISS Foundation in conjunction with The Kubler-Ross Family Trust and The Center for Loss and Trauma. Certified providers of this type of care follow guiding principles including:
|
When a traumatic death occurs, such as the death of a child, not just any counselor, physician, nurse, clergy, or therapist will understand the complexities and challenges of grieving family members. It is critical to find a provider who specializes in traumatic grief. An effective provider will walk with you, help you connect with your feelings, and help you discover ways to cope with the overwhelming sense of loss. |
The Grief Recovery Method®
A Certified Grief Recovery® Specialist helps people move beyond death, divorce, and other losses. This is a powerful and dynamic experience. It is sensible, accessible, authentic and available for recovery from almost any type of loss. The program is generally presented in a 12-week group format and uses The Grief Recovery Handbook written by John W. James and Russell Friedman. This is not a support group nor a drop-in program. It is experiential and action-based using written assignments. It also provides a safe environment for participants to share their thoughts and feelings. We look at our old beliefs about dealing with loss, what losses have affected our lives, and take new actions that will often lead us toward discovery and completion of any unfinished business due to a death, divorce, or other major loss.
